A New Band Room Is Opening In Melbourne Next Month

A brand new band room is set to open in Melbourne next month which will be launched with a special VIP party. 

Located inside St Kilda's Newmarket Hotel, The Hummingbird will play host to touring local and international acts, from jazz to funk to R&B to comedy and everything else in between.

Venue operator Heather Para has worked with Newmarket Hotel and will launch the space on 2 May with performances from acts like Alma Zygier and DJ and PBS radio presenter MzRizk, while local Bev Killick will serve as MC. 

"I’ve had my eye on this room for some time and am so lucky to be able to collaborate with a venue that already had a fantastic reputation for food and hospitality," Para said.

"We are putting in an excellent sound system, re-modelling the existing stage and working closely with the chef to present a sophisticated food offering. We really will be providing something for everyone."

The Hummingbird will aim to host a number of gigs per week, as well as two shows per night on Fridays and Saturdays.
