“I am so overwhelmed, happy, proud, emotional and very, very thankful and grateful.”
The 14th studio album from Aussie icon Kylie Minogue, Golden, is living up to its title, crashing onto charts across the globe and debuting at #1 on both the Aus and UK charts.
It's the Melbourne-born singer’s fifth top-charting LP in Australia and her sixth chart-topping LP in the UK, with her last #1 Aus debut being 2014’s Kiss Me Once
“Thank you to everybody who has been involved in getting Golden to Number 1,” Minogue told the UK Charts.
“I am so overwhelmed, happy, proud, emotional and very, very thankful and grateful.”

Mid-week figures suggested it was a tight race between Golden and Elton John's Revamp LP (featuring covers from The Killers, Lady Gaga, Coldplay and more), which debuted at #5, behind Hillsong Worship’s new album The Is More (#2) and the formidable efforts of Ed Sheeran's ÷ (#3) and The Greatest Showman soundtrack (#4).
There’s plenty of other debuts from Australian acts across the Albums Chart, with Alison Wonderland’s Awake cracking the top 10 to land at #7, while City Calm Down’s Echoes In Blue (#20), Aunty Donna’s The Album (#30) and Cosmic Psychos’ Loudmouth Soup (#37) also make an appearance.
There’s also debuts from Cardi B’s Invasion Of Privacy (#7), 30 Seconds To Mars’ America (#10), Johnny Cash collaborative album Forever Words (#19) and Underoath’s Erase Me (#52).
Cardi B had a massive impact on the Singles Charts too, with three debuts and other collaborations charting among new music from Drake, Calvin Harris & Dua Lipa, Rich The Kid and more.
