A number of key players in Sydney's live music scene are set to rally together this week in a effort to save the city's iconic live music venue, The Basement.
Following recent news that the venue will close after 45 years of operation, Labor Loves Live Music will lead a protest outside NSW Parliament this Thursday.
"On Thursday 12 April 2018 from 4pm a statement will be made in the Upper House of the NSW Parliament calling on AMP Capital to save The Basement premises as a live music venue," a statement reads.
"This is intended to be a non-partisan message that reflects the strong community feeling around the loss of this iconic Sydney venue."

The rally comes in the wake of The Basement management confirming they are looking for alternative spaces.
"While we are thankful for that support, long-term it doesn’t make sense for us to continue in the current space as we are looking to find a permanent home and long term solution that is better suited to us," management said in a Facebook post last week.
"We are looking at a number of options so watch this space as we look to move The Basement into a new era and continue as one of the longest running live music venues in Sydney."
