Meet The Local Artists Playing Download Australia

The local heavy music artists in Australia are some of the world’s best, so it’s not surprising to see the debut of Download Festival in Melbourne this month enlisting a wealth of homegrown heroes for the occasion.

With a third of the line-up consisting of local artists, Download Melbourne producer Nigel Melder told The Music nurturing local talent was important to them.

“I’ve played in bands for years - this isn’t my way of paying it back, I just think there are good Australian bands in this country,” Melder said.

“You go to shows and half the time, the Australian support bands are better than the international bands.”

Here are the local legends joining the likes of Korn, Prophets Of Rage, Limp Bizkit at Flemington Racecourse on March 24.
