'He was immensely proud of what we achieved on this album.'
The last album recorded by iconic Indigenous artist Gurrumul will be revealed to the world this April.
The artist had been working on Djarimirri (Child Of The Rainbow) for four years and had completed the album just weeks before his passing in 2017.
“Last year we sat and listened to these recordings over and over again, from beginning to end and piece by piece, pulling them apart and putting them back together until all elements shone. We had finished the incredible process, preparing to release it and then we lost him,” long-time musical collaborator and friend Michael Hohnen said.
“He was immensely proud of what we achieved on this album and it is an emotional experience for all of us to present this final enormous chapter in his story with this musical statement.”

The album will be unveiled on 13 April, just ahead of the cinematic release of Gurrumul, a documentary about the musician's astonishing life that received a standing ovation during its recent world premiere at the 2018 Berlin Film Festival.
