The artist claims her work was used without permission.
Kendrick Lamar and SZA are being sued for artwork used in the video for their Black Panther soundtrack single All The Stars with the artist claiming that they used visuals without her permission.
As reported by TMZ, the suit has been brought against the musicians by British-Liberian artist Lina Iris Viktor who claims her fine art pieces Constellations I, Constellations II and Constellations III were used in the video despite her turning down Marvel’s requests for use in November 2016 and December 2017.
Earlier in the month The New York Times reported that Viktor’s lawyer sent a letter to Lamar's mentor and Top Dawg Entertainment head Anthony Tiffith alleging the video contains a 19-second segment that '...incorporates not just the immediately-identifiable and unique look of her work, but also many of the specific copyrightable elements in the ‘Constellations’ series of paintings."
Viktor is suing for damages and an injunction prohibiting Lamar and SZA from using her artwork to promote the soundtrack.
