Bluesfest Festival Director Honoured By International Blues Foundation

As the big event , Bluesfest Director Peter Noble, has been honoured with a prestigious award that’s come all the way from Memphis.

Noble travelled halfway across the world to accept the Keeping the Blues Alive Award from The Blues Foundation in Tennessee.

“It is so amazing to travel to America and be honoured in this way,” Noble said.

“I am so happy to have found my life’s work in music all those years ago. And I still love being a part of it.”

The legendary music promoter has been a fixture of the Australian music scene for almost half a century, co-founding Bluesfest in 1990 and heading up the festival ever since. In 2016 he was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australian for services to live and recorded music, to tourism and to the community.

Blues Foundation President and CEO Barbara Newman commented on Noble receiving the honour.

“Our 2018 Keeping the Blues Alive Award recipients are all wonderful examples of Blues flame keepers, each working in their own sphere of influence to move the genre forward while honouring its past,” Newman said.

The news follows on from Bluesfest being inducted into the NSW Tourism Hall of Fame after it's third-straight win of the Best Major Festival & Event award. The Easter festival is also in the running for International Music Festival Of The Year at the prestigious Pollstar Awards which will be announced in early February 

The 29th Bluesfest is set to feature the likes of Robert Plant, Lionel Richie, Ms Lauryn Hill, Kesha, Tash Sultana and a stack more.
