No sign of Big Shaq, though.
We never thought we’d be excited for some warm tuna but the first Hottest 100 predictions have been revealed today and if they’re anything to go by, then 2017 seems like the year of the Aussie artist.
This year’s Warmest 100 is overrun with Australian artists with 30 out of the 40 top songs being home grown. In fact, out of the 97 songs currently in the prediction, a whopping 70 are from Australian bands and artists.
Gang of Youths dominate with three tracks in the top ten alone, The Smith Street Band earn a couple dings but what’s most heartening is to see the amount of female artists getting a look in.
Out of the 70 Australian entries, 30 are from acts that are female or feature females, putting the divide at an almost 50/50 split. If this prediction is to be believed, then that would be a mighty improvement on last year’s countdown which only tallied 21 female led tunes. Acts like Tash Sultana, Alex Lahey and Meg Mac all get multiple mentions in the Warmest 100.

The Warmest 100 is a statistical prediction that’s been collated for the last couple years by 22-year-old computer science graduate, Nick Whyte. His tactic is to use tagged Instragram posts to create an approximation of what the countdown will look like.
While these predictions might only be a small snapshot of what the actual countdown might look like (the sample size works out to be around 0.45%) there's still plenty of time to get out there and vote to make this dream a reality. If you haven't already, you can cast your Hottest 100 vote over here.
The Warmest 100 will be updated daily until the official countdown is revealed in late January. You can listen to the predicted list below.
