More Taylor Swift More Taylor Swift

Yesterday’s massive Taylor Swift tour announcement was met with a slew of joy from fans across the country, but Adelaide followers are feeling a little rejected, airing their disdain via social media as the pop superstar leaves the city off the 2018 Reputation run.

“I’m beyond pissed that Taylor Swift isn’t coming to Adelaide,” said one fan via Twitter, with countless others referencing the fact she sold out both headline dates at Adelaide Entertainment Centre in 2015.

Championing the state’s entertainment industry, Adelaide Lord Mayor Martin Haese told The Music the fans weren’t the only ones missing out over the exclusion.

“Taylor’s also missing out on visiting a city that loves and supports live music,” he said.

Haese’s comments come after he pleaded with Paul McCartney – who is currently in the country – to visit the state, even if it was just to recreate the Beatles’ historic Town Hall balcony scene from 1964.

“I would strongly urge all artists to fit Adelaide into their schedule – they won’t regret it.

“I would personally like to invite Taylor to visit Adelaide - I know I speak for the people of Adelaide when I say that we’d love to see you here.”

While the state’s music body, Music SA, said they had “no doubt” Adelaide would sell out another Taylor Swift concert, General Manager Lisa Bishop said there could be any number of reasons why the singer had to choose between SA and WA – Perth missed out during the 1989 world tour.

“There's a great deal of logistical considerations when planning and booking an international touring act and everything needs to line up including the availability of the preferred venue for the promoter to meet audience capacity and fit in with the required bump in,” Bishop said.

Even though Adelaide had two massive shows last time, fans are still fuming they’re being left out on the upcoming tour.

“She's dead to me for skipping Adelaide,” said one punter.

“Are you actually kidding me?! Taylor Swift, one of the biggest acts in the world is not coming to Adelaide, after P!nk sells out four shows here?!” said another.

Promoters Live Nation are yet to comment.
