We worked it out - this is what you can expect from the show.
After experiencing the wonder that is Paul McCartney last year at Desert Trip (aka Oldchella due to the fact that it was held at Empire Polo Grounds, Indio, California - the Coachella site) on 17 Oct, we’re pretty fucking excited that his Australian One On One tour kicks off in Perth this weekend (2 Dec).
And thanks to the wonders of setlist.com, we had a nerdy look at some of his more recent setlists and found out that it’s very likely McCartney will play an extremely similar set to the one we experienced just over a year ago – wacko! We’re in for a treat!
Yeah, sure, there’s a Wikipedia page set up, which lists the “average setlist”, but obviously we just had to do a bit of investigating ourselves.

Macca performed a 36-song set at Desert Trip, whereas he’s been playing 39 tracks consistently at his arena shows. Comparing the average setlist with McCartney’s shows at Oldchella, as well as his recent appearances in Mexico City (28 Oct) and Brazil (15 Oct), we discovered that a grand total of 30 of the same killer tracks got an airing (see below if you want a sneak peak)!
It’s unlikely there will be as strong an aroma of wacky tobaccy in the house as there was in Indio and it’s doubtful RiRi will get up to perform her part in FourFiveSeconds in the flesh…
We’re also tipping Neil Young won’t be present to share vocal duties on A Day In The Life and Young’s “ball-tearing solo” during Why Don’t We Do It In The Road? is probably the reason why this song was included in Macca’s Oldchella setlists. Showing off much?
However, our review below should get you adequately excited for these upcoming shows. Spoiler alert! Look away now if you don’t wanna know…
Here are the songs you are extremely likely to hear, sing along or dance to when McCartney graces our local stadiums, which were also played at Oldchella.
We recommend you give the below songs a spin before the show to refresh your memory on lyrics so that you can impress your friends/family with your level of fandom (and also maybe even tentatively work out potential toilet breaks, although we personally recommend adult nappies for this once-in-a-lifetime concert experience).
