Rockhampton duo Busby Marou have taken out The Triffid's 2017 Queensland Album Of The Year award.

Now in its second year, the publicly voted award will see Busby Marou's Postcards From The Shell House album spine added to the venue's legend-filled music wall of fame for the next year.

Busby Marou beat the likes of other Queensland alumni Bernard Fanning, Holy Holy, The Jungle Giants and Sabrina Lawrie for the prize.

"We finally feel like we have our very own little home in Brisbane. We're very proud Queenslanders," said Thomas Busby during their acceptance speech. "We were up against Bernard Fanning, I didn't think we were winning! And all these amazing new bands too."

"We're up for the ARIA in a couple weeks — our first ARIA — and I don't want to rag on anything but I would much rather win this to be honest," he laughs. "There's not one ounce of pretentiousness here. It's just a real venue for real music and that's how it's suppose to be."

"We're so proud of what The Triffid's become in the last three years and it couldn't have happened without the people around us," said the venue's co-owner John Collins.

Busby Marou are currently touring around the country; head to theGuide for more info.
