The Sydney community is rallying behind local studio owner and musician Michael McGlynn after a large amount of his equipment was stolen in a car break-in on Monday night.

McGlynn, who runs Annandale studio, Vienna People, and regularly engineers The Music Podcast With Dave & Neil, has confirmed to The Music that the break-in occurred in a security garage at his home which requires a remote control to get in or out.

Amongst the stolen gear, worth around $8,000 in total, includes a Yamaha S90es 88 note keyboard, two EV SX300 powered 12” speakers, an EV e945 microphone and an iPad.

"The most amazing thing has been the support of my family, friends, colleagues and clients," McGlynn told The Music.

"I've received hundreds of messages of support, and literally dozens of PMs from people offering to lend me equipment to keep me playing live. One of my clients even put $250 straight into my bank account. They’ve asked for nothing in return.

"The generosity and support shown to me far outweighs the value of the gear I've lost. And in a time where people argue with each other on social media and call each other names constantly it's really helped restore my faith in humanity."

McGlynn's Vienna People has worked with a string of big names, including ARIA Award-winning outfit The Idea Of North and L-FRESH The LION.
