Sydney's Iconic Oxford Art Factory Up For Sale This Month

6 November 2017 | 11:26 am | Staff Writer

Not a bad purchase.

Sydney's iconic Oxford Art Factory is set to get a new landlord when it goes to auction this month.

As Commercial Real Estate reports, the Oxford Street venue could sell for "around the $5 million mark".

Venue management has confirmed to The Music that only the strata is being sold, ensuring Oxford Art Factory will continue as one of the city's most beloved live music venues.

"The business is not for sale, (Oxford Art Factory) is business as usual," current owner and operator Mark Gerber, who has plans to invest in other venues, told Commerical Real Estate.

Oxford Art Factory's lease is secure until 2031 with options to expand.

It's reported that the venue, previously occupied by Central Station Records, earns a net income of $370,800 a year with 3% fixed annual rent increases.

Sales agent Allan Levy said there has already been some interested investors.

"It could (sell to) someone who in the future may want to operate this, but currently it's on a lease with the Oxford Art Factory," Levy said.

"With what things are selling for at the moment, it looks like this is going to be a real good buy for someone looking for a good income."

Oxford Art Factory has hosted some huge gigs in 2017 alone, including Middle Kids, Modern Baseball, Alex Lahey and Dave Grohl's Chevy Metal.

The property goes to auction on 28 November.
