Writers Of Track For US '00s Girl Group Claim Taylor Swift's 'Shake It Off' Is A Rip-off

Just a month after she emerged victorious in a highly-publicised groping case, Taylor Swift has been hit with a new lawsuit which claims the singer's hit song, Shake It Off, is a rip-off of US '00s girl group 3LW's Playas Gon' Play.

As TMZ reports, the writers of the 2001-released track, Sean Hall and Nathan Butler, allege that 20% of Shake It Off has been lifted from their song, including the lyrics, "Playas, they gonna play and haters, they gonna hate".

It is reported that Hall and Butler are seeking a large sum of money, however Swift's representative has slammed the lawsuit.

"This is a ridiculous claim and nothing more than a money grab," the rep said.

"The law is simple and clear.  They do not have a case."

Swift was sued back in 2015 by R&B artist, Jesse Braham, who also alleged the pop superstar ripped off lyrics for Shake It Off, however the case was thrown out within the month. 

United States District Court Judge Gail Standish famously dismissed the lawsuit by using lyrics from a number of Swift's tracks.

"At present, the Court is not saying that Braham can never, ever, ever get his case back in court," Standish said.

"But, for now, we have got problems, and the Court is not sure Braham can solve them."

Swift is currently gearing up for the release of her sixth studio album, Reputation, on 10 November.
