"YouTube is a huge platform, and I wanted to create something powerful.”
After a blistering performance at the NRL semi-final across the weekend, rising Aussie hip hop star L-FRESH The LION has unveiled his next song and music video will be premiered at the inaugural Tribeca TV Festival in New York this week.
The massive opportunity for the rapper is in conjunction with YouTube’s Creators For Change initiative and will see him rubbing shoulders with Hollywood A-listers such as Trevor Noah, Amy Sedaris, Oprah Winfrey, Louis CK and more on the red carpet before his powerful new single, Raci$T/Our World, and its accompanying video are unveiled.
As its title suggests, the new single tackles two different subjects, firstly unpacking racism at a systemic level before L-FRESH reflections on his family’s migration story.
"I don't take this opportunity for granted. YouTube is a huge platform, and I wanted to create something powerful,” he said.

“We don't talk about racism at a systemic level enough. The video highlights the need for us to move into that space so we can address the root causes. I also show the beauty of my every day reality in the people and places of South West Sydney. This is our world”
After the video is premiered on Friday night, it will be uploaded to L-FRESH’s YouTube channel on Saturday morning, where he’ll also be posting highlights from the red carpet and more.
