We aren't ready for this.
Labor senator Sam Dastyari will be breaking out his alter-ego DJ Dasher for the second time ever this week in Brisbane, hitting the decks at The Apo Upstairs to help raise funds for aspirant Labor state candidate Bart Mellish.
Having only once before appeared (in public) to put the "party" in "the Labor Party" — Dastyari made his disc-spinning debut in Melbourne last year — DJ Dasher is ready and raring to give it another red-hot go, and has even promised that he's made some improvements to the playlist for this go-around.
The Dash's first appearance, with fellow Labor man Tim Watts, aka DJ Mega Watts, copped a bit of a ribbing on the ol' social media for his selection of tunes, which included tracks such as Drake's Hotline Bling, Beyonce's Drunk In Love, Salt N Pepa's Push It and, uh, Mr President's Coco Jambo, among others.
To Dastyari's credit, he didn't let the criticism get him down, telling former BuzzFeed Australia reporter Mark DiStefano (who had charged that the playlist was "awful"): "We sold out. No one complained. Screw you Mark and your hipster crap. I fill a floor."
