Katie Underwood claims she was approached four times.
The Nine Network has responded to comments made by former Bardot member Katie Underwood, who claimed she was approached four times by producers of The Voice to audition.
Underwood publicly stated that she had no interest in taking part in the reality TV singing competition, saying, "I'm not sure why they keep asking me. Maybe it's because I'd present an interesting back story. Maybe it's because I'm a good singer. Maybe it's because they're desperate… or think I am".
In a statement given to The Music today, a Nine spokesperson responded to the former Popstars contestant's comments.
"We cast a very wide net in talent scouting for The Voice, including people who have previously had singing careers and are looking to re-start them through the exposure The Voice can provide," the statement reads.

"We have had people in these situations who have said no the first time and yes when asked a year later.
"We ask again as courtesy to people we've had on the radar."
While Underwood now runs a massage, reiki and sound therapy service in Melbourne, fellow Bardot member Tiffany Wood has claimed she was also contacted by Nine producers.
"Their pitch to me was it would be great publicity for my singing school and boost my profile," Wood wrote on Facebook.
