"As far as awards and accolades go, NIMAs mean a lot."
Acclaimed Aussie hip hop outfit AB Original and country legend Troy Cassar-Daley have both claimed multiple titles at the 2017 National Indigenous Music Awards.
The annual event was held tonight at Darwin’s iconic Amphitheatre, celebrating the best in upcoming and established Indigenous music, with AB Original, aka Trials and Briggs, picking up Song Of The Year and Film Clip Of The Year (after cleaning up at the AIR Awards last month), while Cassar-Daley took out the coveted Artist Of The Year and Album Of The Year prizes.
"They’re giving us the tip of the hat, saying they approve and that’s what the record was all about for us," Trials told The Music last month after being nominated. "As far as awards and accolades go, NIMAs mean a lot to Briggs and I.”
“Things I Carry Around is one of the most personal things I’ve ever made and talking about my family in depth like that and my culture as well was vitally important to what the album meant,” said Cassar-Daley.
