Perfect Angels Cub Sport Explain How Deeply Messed Up This Postal Plebiscite Business Is

As we're sure you're aware, Australia is currently undergoing yet another drawn-out and frankly farcical debate about whether or not LGBTQI people are actually, well, people, by continuing the callous argument over their right to marry the person they love.

Although the government's proposed plebiscite has been shot down before, the country is now headed towards a (non-binding but expensive) postal vote on the issue, which has been freshly complicated by Tony Abbott's insistence on dragging terms like "political correctness" into the fray in an attempt to once again jam his meddling prick right into the spokes of progress.

Obviously, emotions are running high about the whole thing, but the beautiful souls in Brisbane band Cub Sport — two members of whom, Tim Nelson and Sam Netterfield, recently got engaged and thus have an incredibly personal stake in the issue — have found the grace to compose a heartfelt, heart-wrenching reflection on the postal plebiscite and its potential impact on LGBTQI youth around Australia, describing it as "an unnecssary and hazardous way forward".

"A majority using their platform to squash a minority and to tell them that they're less worthy of a human right because of their sexuality is truly crushing," their post reads. "The people campaigning against marriage equality don't need any more of a platform than they already have.

"I grew up feeling like I was less deserving of many things (respect, love, acceptance) purely because of my sexuality — I can tell you first hand that it fucks you up. There are vulnerable young LGBTQI people who are already struggling — it's cruel to allow anybody to make these people feel like they deserve any less than a heterosexual person does.

"We need to build these people up and remind them that they are loved — we are all humans and should all be equal."
