WA Council Shuts Down Award-winning Live Music Venue

Popular independent live music venue Noodle Palace has had an event application knocked back by council.

Management of Noodle Palace, which has won the Fringe award for Best Independent Venue every year since 2013, confirmed on Facebook last week that it had not “received the required City Of Perth approval” to host at the “former Megamart Building” over the weekend.

Management has since launched a survey to rally support against the Council’s decision.

The survey, posted by Noodle Palace promoters, JumpClimb, reads, “As announced this week, City of Perth have declined the event application for Noodle Palace. There is also strong opposition from the Australian Hotels Association (WA) who believe that events like Noodle Palace do not benefit Northbridge and Perth City.

”We believe such art and music focused activations, especially those of under-utilised or vacant spaces make Perth a more vibrant city, bringing people to the entertainment precinct in notoriously quiet winter months, providing strong flow on effects to all businesses in the area.”

A string of big names have performed at Noodle Palace in the past, including Kevin Parker, Safia, Nina Las Vegas and Client Liaison.
