The trip comes in the wake of 2016's awesome ninth full-length 'Requiem For Hell'

More Mono More Mono

Venerated Japanese instrumental-rock outfit MONO are no strangers to Australian shores; they made their first trip Down Under 10 years ago, and have amassed a fervent fandom all across the country over the ensuing years through multiple visits touting their world-renowned live show.

Local fans will have yet another chance to experience the transcendent action of a MONO show when the band return to Australia for a national tour this November, hitting Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide — the band's first-ever visit to the city — and Perth over five intensity-fuelled days.

The impending sojourn comes in the wake of their bone-shakingly good ninth studio full-length, Requiem For Hell, which landed in October last year and marked a sonic (re-)expansion for the band as they brought an orchestral element back into their ever-shifting soundscapes, following a spiritual return to the more minimalist roots of their earlier material on 2014's Rays Of Darkness.

Formed in 1999, MONO have developed an internationally regarded reputation as one of the most vital, visceral and hardest-working instrumental rock bands on the planet. Typically eschewing the 'post-rock' label with which they're often bestowed, the band are nonetheless regarded as titans of that pantheon of wordless, expressive and dynamic music, sitting comfortably next to the likes of Mogwai, Explosions In The Sky, God Is An Astronaut, their country-mates in Toe and many other renowned outfits.

Their shows — which often number about 150 worldwide in any given year — are highly regarded, memorable affairs regardless of scope, from the most intimate of basement-venue gigs to grandstanding next to the expansive ranks of the Wordless Music Orchestra, who collaborated with the band on 2009's Holy Ground: NYC Live With The Wordless Music Orchestra and 2012's For My Parents.

Even with just their four core members, though, MONO promise to bring their refined brand of gorgeous, thunderous, sweet, sweet noise to Aussie fans once more in just a few months' time.
