Supanova Brisbane & Adelaide Score 'Buffy' Alumni As First Two Celeb Guests

The pop-culture convention returns for its final events of 2017 this November

Given that Buffy The Vampire Slayer turned 20 earlier this year, it seems a perfect opportunity to spend some time strolling down memory lane at Supanova Comic-Con & Gaming expo in Adelaide and Brisbane this November.

To that end, organisers have lined up two of the show's fan-favourite stars — Nicholas Brendon (Xander) and James Marsters (Spike) — as the first announced guests for the final 'Nova events of 2017.

Following Buffy's end in 2003, Brendon went on to a number of guest appearances before landing a regular gig on Criminal Minds in 2007, which he stayed with through till the show's 10th season in 2014. The same year, he started as a writer on the Buffy Season 10 comic book. He will feature in this year's Surge Of Power: Revenge Of The Sequel, his first film since 2014's Attack Of The Morningside Monster.

Marsters, meanwhile, is a long-time favourite of the convention, having first appeared at Brisbane and Melbourne's 2010 events, as well as returning in 2011 (Perth/Sydney), 2012 (Brisbane/Adelaide), 2015 (Gold Coast/Melbourne) and 2016 (Sydney/Perth).

In addition to his work as Spike in both Buffy and several episodes of its spin-off series, Angel, Marsters appeared in seasons five and seven of Smallville as Brainiac (he also voiced Lex Luthor in 2007's animated Superman: Doomsday), had recurring roles in Without A Trace and Torchwood and is set to star as mad scientist Victor Stein in Runaways, an upcoming series based on the Marvel comic of the same name about a group of teenagers who run away (ohhhhhhh, we see) from their villainous parents and become a ragtag bunch of aspiring heroes.

The year-end Supanova events will be held at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre from 10-12 November and Adelaide Showground from 17-19 November.
