The Latest Radio Ratings Are In - Is Australia Starting To Warm To Triple J's Ben & Liam?

The fourth radio ratings for 2017 have been released today and it has delivered some interesting results for triple j; specifically the breakfast slot, hosted by Ben & Liam.

The Adelaide duo have enjoyed some very healthy spikes in the latest survey which begs the question: are Ben & Liam starting to win over Australia?

perth

Ben & Liam have made some huge strides in the Perth market, increasing the breakfast share from 8.3 to 9.3 in the latest survey, helping the youth broadcaster's overall share to increase by 0.6 points.

Nova 93.7 have dominated this survey as it has yet again taken out the FM breakfast crown, pushing ahead by 0.8 points from the last survey for an overall share of 14.8. The station's drive show hosted by Kate, Tim & Marty also took out top honours for its slot, with a share of 15.6.

The huge figures ensure Nova is Perth's most listened to FM station with an overall share of 14.1.

melbourne

Ben & Liam's figures are just as impressive in Melbourne, as the boys have jumped up by 0.9 points from the last outing to clinch a share of 4.8, while Veronica & Lewis also increased their share in the drive slot to 6.4.

Hometown heroes Hamish & Andy smashed their drive competition despite only increasing their share by 0.2 points, to clinch an overall share of 12.9 for 101.9 FOX FM, way ahead of second-placed Kate, Tim & Marty on Nova 100 who claimed a 9.7 share.

The huge figures delivered from Hamish & Andy gave FOX the FM honours, which scored an overall share of 9.9.

brisbane

Like Melbourne, Ben & Liam increased triple j's breakfast share by 0.9 for an overall figure of 6.9, but 97.3FM's Bianca, Terry & Bob were the big winners in breakfast. The trio increased their share by a whopping 2.2 points to clinch a 12.8 and move into the number one position for the slot.

Triple J's Veronica & Lewis also enjoyed a very nice boost of 1.2 to claim a share of 8.5, but nothing could stop Kate, Tim & Marty on Nova 106.9 who claimed a mighty share of 18.6.

Nova can call itself Brisbane's most listened to FM station thanks to the drive figures, as it clinched an overall share of 14.1, well ahead of 97.3FM in second with a share of 12.5. 

sydney

Despite triple j increasing its overall weekday share by 0.2 points, Ben & Liam have struggled to win over the Sydney market, with their share dropping by 0.2 points from the last survey. 

FM breakfast was again taken out by Kyle & Jackie O on KIIS1065 with a share of 10.0, while Smooth again proved to be the city's favourite FM station with an overall share of 9.1.

adelaide

Surprisingly, Ben & Liam were hit the most in their hometown, as their breakfast share dropped 0.7 points to claim an overall figure of 5.9.

Despite minor increases in the drive, evening and weekend slots, triple j suffered blows in the remaining categories as their overall share dropped by 0.3 points for an overall figure of 6.8.

In comparison, Mix 102.3 experienced some nice increases across the board, helping it to secure the #1 spot for FM stations overall with a share of 12.8.
