Hear Polish Club's David Novak Utterly Crush It On A New 'Simpsons' Folk-Punk Cover

Aside from being the best episode of The Simpsons ever (fight us), fourth-season classic Last Exit To Springfield boasts one of the show's more understated original pieces of music in the Lisa Simpson-led Union Strike Folk Song.
Memorable for being a) one of the rare times Lisa plays guitar rather than her beloved saxophone and b) a moment of sober sincerity amid an otherwise uninterrupted, rapid-fire stream of iconic jokes, Union Strike Folk Song — which has been given the punk-do-over treatment as part of musician and The Music WA editor Dan Cribb's ongoing cover series, Worst Tribute Ever — has been imbued with an extra kick of power from the incredible vocal contributions of Polish Club's David Novak.
Featuring guitar and bass by Troy Nababan (and a Classical Gas coda by Leon Todd, because even the most earnest moment of the episode is finished with a gag), this cover forgoes the uptempo energy of predecessors such as The Garbage Man (ft Jen Boyce), Oh, Streetcar! (ft Scott Connor) or even Happy Birthday, Lisa (ft Ecca Vandal), substituting in its place ample moody atmosphere and evocative, anthemic energy.
"David’s voice is next-level and it’s so awesome to hear it on this stripped-back song," Cribb said.

"When I initially approached him about the project, he brought up 'dental plan/Lisa needs braces', which is from the same episode, and how Union Strike Song came into the equation. Stay tuned as that line will make an appearance later in the project."
