The Byron Bay outfit's fresh full-length has made a splash overseas
Byron Bay heavy-hitters In Hearts Wake have made an impact internationally with their fourth studio album, Ark, making its debut on multiple UK charts this week.
Impressively, the Aussie band broke into the top 20 for Independent Albums Breakers, coming in at #14 among a raft of debuts topped by new #1 holders Alestorm (No Grave But The Sea).
In Hearts Wake also broke into the rankings of the Top 40 Rock & Metal Albums, at #39, this week, but — on a ladder consistently heavily populated by unmovable 'all-time' greats such as Nirvana, Guns N' Roses and Pink Floyd, among others — finding an open spot to claim at all there is no small feat.
It's not entirely surprising that Ark has won over Brit headbangers on its release; our reviewer, Dylan Stewart, praised the album for its density and quality, but also its overarching accessibility.

The band are serious contenders for the top spot on this week's ARIA Charts, and are set to kick off an epic national tour Down Under with Crossfaith, While She Sleeps and Polaris in July. See theGuide for more information.
In the lead-up to the album, they undertook a project in conjunction with marine charity Tangaroa Blue to clean up waterways around the nation.
The initiative took place at Melbourne's St Kilda Beach (in an effort that saw them collect more than 4000 pieces of rubbish in half an hour) and Sydney's Bondi Beach (5000 pieces of rubbish), as well as Kangaroo Point, Brisbane, and the Gold Coast's Main Beach last weekend.
