Going down in July!

After a string of hugely-impressive rallies protesting lockout laws this year and last, Keep Sydney Open are breaking new ground with the announcement of a new festival taking place in the heart of Kings Cross.

The inaugural event, entitled Meet Me In The Cross, is slated to go down on Saturday, 1 July across some of the area's most popular venues, including Kings Cross Hotel, World Bar, Candys Apartment, Potts Point Hotel and Sweethearts Rooftop to name a few.

Speaking to The Music today, Keep Sydney Open's Tyson Koh said the festival is an indication that the anti-lockouts organisation is expanding its vision.

"We're known for putting on successful rallies but we feel we've made that statement," Koh says.

"The rallies highlight the problems facing the music scene but we think that's run its course. With this event we want to directly support the venues, the artists, the promoters and bring people back into Kings Cross.

"Putting this festival on is a sign of Keep Sydney Open evolving as an organisation."

A full artist line-up is expected to be announced shortly, but Keep Sydney Open have confirmed they are teaming up with a number of collectives for the festival including Future Classic, Elefant Traks, Astral People, Heaps Gay, Sweat It Out, Lovebombs, Zoo Project and We Love.
