A.B. Original have today dropped powerful new single and accompanying video, Report To The Mist, which the duo say is the "cornerstone" of their acclaimed debut album, Reclaim Australia.

The video, which includes a viewer discretion tag at the beginning, deals with police brutality in indigenous communities and comes on the 30th anniversary of Bob Hawke calling for the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody.

"We felt like this was the best note to end it on," Briggs and Trials said of the fourth and final track from their LP in an exclusive statement to The Music.

"It was one of the first songs we recorded and made, the cornerstone of the whole record.

"Each song is a representation of the album, this video always intended to tell this story at some point. It felt like the right time given the significance of the anniversary of the Royal Commission into Deaths in Custody recommendations were handed down."

The song's release includes a stand-alone website where the video can be viewed, alongside statistics around indigenous mortality and rates of incarcerations.

The release comes just months after the hip hop duo picked up the Australian Music Prize for Reclaim Australia, however they say the true success has come from the community response.

"The goals for the record weren't grandiose - they were always rooted in community," A.B. Original tol The Music.

"The success of this album was going to be the response from the kids who were like us. The success of this record wasn't going to be in chart positions or awards, it was how it resonated with young Indigenous kids.

"All of the accolades are a welcome by product and we appreciate the response."
