UPDATE: King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard have responded to Edgar Wright's indication that he would like to direct a video clip for them, returning serve on Twitter with their own assertion that they, too, would be "down" to collaborate on such a project. Wright replied: "This is major."

Guys. GUYS. This could actually happen.

ORIGINAL STORY: Aussie psych-rockers King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard are in the throes of global appreciation at the moment, having made their TV debut on US late-night show Conan earlier this week amid their current US tour.

But, while they're crushing it from all angles, that's probably not the only exciting thing that will happen for them as a result of their international sojourn. Among their other prospects, renowned British director Edgar Wright (Scott Pilgrim Vs The World, Hot Fuzz, Shaun Of The Dead) suggested on Twitter this morning (AEST) that he would be keen to helm a video clip for the prolific local outfit.

After referencing King Gizz's tune Rattlesnake, from this year's Flying Microtonal Banana album, Wright responded to a fan's suggestion that he collaborate with the band on a video clip with a simple and sincere, "I'm down," even tagging in the group to ensure they got the message.

With the band set to head across to the Europe and the UK this May and June, this isn't something that is entirely out of the realm of possibility of at least being hashed out over a pint or Cornetto when they're in Wright's neck of the woods.

Who knows — given the work rate these guys are renowned for, they may even find the time to knock out an actual clip if it all comes together.

The Music has contacted the band's representatives for comment.

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard will release their 10th studio album, Murder Of The Universe, on 23 June. Pre-orders are available now.
