Album? Concert? BOTH?!

More Tool More Tool

Veteran US outfit Tool have sent a solid number of their fans into a bit of a tizz this morning after posting a cryptic photo featuring their logo and, ostensibly, a date — 24 June — sending the online rumour mills into overdrive about the band's long-awaited fifth studio album.

Although some commenters believe that it's actually advertising a show at San Manuel Amphitheater, in San Bernardino, California — given that's the apparent location that appears in the picture, and the fact that their final current scheduled tour date is on 23 June — plenty of others have taken it as being an indication that the band's first full-length since 2006's acclaimed 10,000 Days will soon be upon us at last.

Speculation on the album's whereabouts has been running rampant for years — not that the band owes anyone anything, mind you — but frontman Maynard James Keenan confirmed that he was recording vocals for it back in February, so it's definitely not out of the realm of possibility that we may see this record manifest sooner rather than later.

The band last toured Australia in 2013. In the intervening years, Keenan has been keeping busy with other projects such as Puscifer and A Perfect Circle, the latter of whom are also expected to release their fourth studio album in the near future.
