Hotel owner has responded.

A video showing a security guard punch a patron on camera outside a popular Coffs Harbour venue has gone viral.

According to The Daily Telegraph, the incident reportedly occurred at Coffs Harbour Hotel on St Patricks Day during an altercation with a bouncer from the venue and a 19-year-old male.

The video shows the security guard punch the man and place him in a headlock before three other bouncers intervene.

While some are reportedly calling for a boycott of the hotel due to the aggressive behaviour of the security guard, Coffs Harbour Hotel owner Marty Phillips said the 19-year-old had previously been barred from the venue for 12 months.

"He has been barred from the hotel for a previous incident and he entered the hotel, and he threatened security," Phillips said.

Police have said they are concerned by the footage and are investigating, though no charges can be laid until the alleged victim outs himself.

"We have one version that has been put out there in the media, but we just don't know what the other versions are at this stage," Detective Inspector Darren Jameson said.

Coffs Harbour Hotel also serves as a live music venue for the town, with gigs lined up over the coming months for names such as Northlane, Fatman Scoop, Bag Raiders and Ash Grunwald.
