Venue issues statement.

Sydney live music venue Max Watt's has called off Jamaican artist Beenie Man's show tomorrow night due to the findings of "alleged fraudulent ticket sales".

Venue management addressed the allegations in a statement given to The Music today.

"We regret to announce that the upcoming Beenie Man show at Max Watt's Sydney on 23/3/17 has been cancelled due to a large number of alleged fraudulent ticket sales," the statement reads.

"The team at Max Watt's and Oztix, our ticket provider, pride themselves on working with promoters that act with integrity and respect, but unfortunately our trust was misplaced on this specific occasion.

"Beenie Man has an incredible following in Sydney and a strong legion of fans, so we have done our best to move forward with this show despite the allegations, but unfortunately the severity of the claims has left the venue in a position that we are no longer comfortable in."

Beenie Man kicked off his Australian tour this past Saturday at The Tivoli in Brisbane and management were able to confirm to The Music that tickets purchased outside of the official providers were brought into the venue.

The 'King Of Dancehall' is scheduled to perform at Trak in Melbourne this Saturday and Metro City in Perth on Sunday and when contacted by The Music, management of both venues confirmed that the shows will go ahead as planned.
