Brisbane singer/producer The Kite String Tangle has been laying low for a little while, but now he's hatched some awesome news. Danny Harley is launching his very own label called Exist. Recordings, in collaboration with UNIFIED.

Speaking exclusively with The Music, Harley explained that his progression into the music business world was a long time coming.

"I've kinda been wanting to do it as long as I can remember, really. When you're doing music yourself, especially as an independent musician, at the beginning you kind of have to do every role if you don't have management and agents, all this team behind you," Harley says. "So I think when that started getting taken over by other people [for The Kite String Tangle] I almost started to miss it a little bit? Which is weird, but I kinda dig that side of things."

As he's managed by UNIFIED, collaborating with the label was an easy decision. Harley recalls, "I was wanting to get their thoughts on it and they put their hand up to get involved. It meant I got to focus more heavily on the A&R and creative vision side of things, whilst they took care of the more functional back-end side of things."

With the announcement of the label launch, Harley has also revealed his first two signings — Brisbane producer Golden Vessel and Gold Coast sibling duo LASTLINGS. Harley says Golden Vessel's "a production and songwriting prodigy", while LASTLINGS "have this air about them that's really mature, well-rounded".

To celebrate the new chapter, The Kite String Tangle has also revealed the first new track in about three years, a lush offering called Selfish, which will be released through Exist. Recordings/Warner.
