More Woodes More Woodes

Following the release of her self-titled EP late last year, Melbourne artist Woodes has this week announced she has signed a global music publishing deal with Universal Music Publishing Australia.

Woodes' EP has since been streamed over 1.5 million times online, debuted in the top 20 iTunes chart in six countries and hit #1 on the Singapore Alternative Albums chart.

"Woodes is an undeniably talented and driven writer and we are absolutely thrilled to welcome her into the Universal Publishing family," VP Creative of Universal Music Publishing Australia and New Zealand, Arwen Curson, said.

Having toured around Australia in recent times with names like Dustin Tebbutt and Montaigne, Woodes has also been announced on the 2017 SXSW line-up.

"I'm so proud and grateful to be working with the Universal Publishing Group," Woodes said of the signing.

"At the core of why I do music, I love songwriting and working with other people, as I thoroughly enjoy the problem solving aspect of writing and collaboratively working with others.

"I've been a writer for many years, the Woodes project was a branch off of that once I began forming everything together my own production and creative direction. My early passion and curiosity in music stemmed from hearing music in media such as TV shows, films and advertising.

"It's where I found many of my favourite artists such as Imogen Heap, who was an early hero that inspired me to start to produce and pick up a microphone to record my ideas. I've always found the world of music placement fascinating.

"This new chapter is something I've been working towards for so many years and I feel at home with the Universal Publishing Group."

Woodes joins the UMP Australia roster that already includes acts such as Peking Duk, Gang Of Youths, The Veronicas, Jessica Mauboy, Bag Raiders and more.
