Is This The Last Year We Hear The Hottest 100 On 26 January?

After ruling out the possibility of moving the date for triple j's Hottest 100 this year, management have revealed that discussions are still in place to potentially move the annual countdown in future. 

With the 2017 countdown now just two days away, there is a chance that this could be the last time the Hottest 100 is heard on 26 January. 

"It's an ongoing discussion," triple j content director Ollie Wards said in an interview with News Corp.

"We are reviewing the day the Hottest 100 falls on. We're doing some things on the 26th we're really proud of, we're keen to create a spirit of inclusivity as much as we can."

Triple J's Hack will also air a program on Thursday morning discussing the different views of Australia Day. 

Wards also noted that he hopes to see AB Original's anti-Australia Day track, January 26, in the Hottest 100. 

"I'm personally voting for that song," Wards told News Corp.

"It's a dope track, it'd be cool to see it in there. That was a really popular song this year."

Some of Australia's biggest hip hop names, including Urthboy, L-FRESH The LION, Thundamentals and Coda Conduct have also addressed the Australia Day debate in a new song entitled Change The Date.

Meanwhile, the 100 Warm Tunas website currently predicts that this year's countdown will come down to Flume's Never Be Like You and Amy Shark's Adore.

Speaking to The Music last week, Shark said she is shocked to hear how well her hit song is tracking. 

"I am honestly just happy that I'm even a contender," the Gold Coast songwriter said.
