This could be HUGE.
The Gold Coast is on track to host a new two-day music festival in 2017, according to a new report.
As noted by the Gold Coast Bulletin, a report from Council’s Economic Development and Major Projects Committee meeting last month has discussed plans for a new festival to take place on Coolangatta Beach from November 11-12.
As the report reads, "The proposal is to stage the festival on the Coolangatta-Greenmount beach, with Back of House support infrastructure located in the adjacent parklands.
"The intention is to have two stages on the beach (one at the western end and one at the mid-to-eastern end) with a smaller support stage in Queen Elizabeth Park. Marine Parade would be closed and some adjoining streets would be closed or access restricted to residents’ vehicles during the event."

Gold Coast Bulletin has reported that TEG Dainty is rumoured to be the promoter behind the event.
"The applicant is one of Australia’s leading promoters and has extensive experience in staging world-class music and entertainment events,” the report continues.
"This festival is to be modelled on an event staged overseas that draws 40,000 people per day and features leading performers.
"The applicant expects this event to attract 40,000 attendees. It will be marketed and promoted widely including a heavy emphasis on interstate and intrastate markets."
The proposed festival would return in February each year from and including 2019 and is only slated for this November to avoid the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games 2018 beach volleyball.
The Gold Coast was once a popular spot for Aussie music festivals, as the Gold Coast Parklands served as the long-term Queensland location for the now-defunct Big Day Out, as did Metricon Stadium in 2014.
