Police are calling for witnesses.

Tasmania Police say that three reports have been made of sexual assaults on young women attending the Falls Festival in Tasmania over the past two days.

In a statement posted on Facebook, Police are urging patrons at the Marion Bay leg of Falls to be "extra conscious of their personal safety and to look after each other".

One assault is reported to have taken place between 10.45pm and 11.45pm on Thursday night. Police report that "a young girl was assaulted in the front right section of the moshpit during the performance of DJ Hot Dub Time Machine."

Another incident was reported in the campgrounds that same night between 9.30pm and 11.30pm.

The third assault is believed to have happened just after 2pm on Friday when, police say, another young girl was assaulted "in the moshpit area while Illy was performing".

Police want to hear from any person who may have witnessed any of the incidents or have any information that might assist the investigation.

Police have said that they are particularly keen to hear from a female witness who intervened in the assault on Thursday night in the moshpit.

If any person has any information they are encouraged to contact Tasmania Police on 131 444, or visit the police station at the Marion Bay Falls Festival site this evening.

Extra security measures have been put in place for the moshpit area as a result of these incidents.

Yesterday over 60 people received medical treatment following a stampede at the Victorian location of the Falls Festival.
