More Pierce Brothers More Pierce Brothers

Melbourne duo Pierce Brothers have slammed calls for local buskers to stay clear of Myer Christmas Windows when performing in the CBD.

The folk act, who very often busked in the early stages of their career, say comments made by Lord Mayor Robert Doyle that it's "not appropriate" for live performances to take place outside the store are off the mark.

"The Bourke St mall pitches have been set in place for years, including the pitch outside Myer and David Jones," Pierce Brothers exclusively told The Music.

"It's important for buskers and store fronts to work together during such a busy time, and we've always made it work well in the past.

"We wish Lord Mayor Robert Doyle would actually support the arts, instead of labeling buskers 'not appropriate'."

Ironically, the guys will be busking on Bourke Street today from 2pm.
