The Avalanches are well-known for featuring guest vocalists on their tracks — with their latest album Wildflower featuring the likes of Danny Brown and Camp Lo — but did you know the band considered our very own Tkay Maidza as the group's live vocalist?
In an exclusive interview with The Music, the band's Tony Di Blasi confirmed that they were in talks to have the Adelaide rapper head out with them on tour.
"We actually were in talks with Tkay to be our live frontwoman/MC/singer, I think at the start of this year — we just couldn't, I mean, I guess she's got her own career. But she was definitely someone we looked at," Di Blasi said.
Known to use Baltimore rapper Spank Rock and local singer Eliza Wolfgramm as live vocalists — you may have caught them at Splendour In The Grass — we asked whether the band would consider even more homegrown talent as their live frontperson.

"Yeah, we'd love to do more of that," Di Blasi admitted.
