The rising Sydney songstress will release her new EP early next year
Blue My Soul, the upcoming EP release from emergent Sydney chanteuse ILUKA, is a truly worldly creation, and The Music is deeply thrilled to be premiering the first taste, Blue Jean Baby, on our site today.
The upbeat, warmly captivating new track highlights ILUKA's distinct vocal talents, which ricochet between gentle restraint and soaring power with casual aplomb. Underneath, snappy drum lines propel the track forward as warbly guitar licks and complementary instrumentation fills out the lush and enchanting soundscape.
The song, as with the wider EP, had its seeds sown while ILUKA was undergoing a bit of an existential awakening as she travelled around the world, saying that the work was "born in a Buddhist monastery in south-east Asia, took shape through a utopian human experiment in southern India, and matured on the vast arid expanses of the American desert".
Blue Jean Baby comes infused with the loving attention of producer Jean-Paul Fung (Last Dinosaurs, Jinja Safari) and masterer David Walker (Stonefield, Snakadaktal), and will be released this Friday, 18 November.
