Aussie promoters doing us proud
Australian music industry behemoths Michael Chugg, Michael Gudinski and Bluesfest have again been nominated for influential music industry gongs as part of the 28th Annual Pollstar Awards.
Chugg has scored yet another nomination as the International Promoter Of The Year — a title he still holds from last year — having won the title four times in the last 16 years and been nominated for 17 times in total. This year, Chugg Entertainment has seen hefty rebranding and expansion, including the rise of several long-standing staff after Matthew Lazarus-Hall's departure as CEO and co-director.
Frontier Touring's Michael Gudinski has also scored the same nod, and both promoters go up against the likes of Live Nation Germany's Marek Lieberberg, 3A Entertainment's Pete Wilson and Rob Potts (Rob Potts Entertainment Edge).
Bluesfest and its big boss Peter Noble may also continue their reign with the International Festival Of The Year award, this year picking up a nomination for the fifth time in a row. Noble and his team are no strangers to Pollstar — last year Bluesfest came in at #14 on the Top 100 Worldwide Concert Grosses list and #45 on the Top 100 Promoters list, the third best in Australia based on ticket sales.
