It was meant to be the summer of George, but we aren't too upset about it anymore because Jerry Seinfeld has announced he'll be hitting Australia next year for his first comedy tour of the country in nearly two decades.

Seinfeld, one of the most beloved comics of all time, will take to the stage for arena performances in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney next August.

"Australia may be far in miles but I feel very close to the people because of our mutual comedy connection," Seinfeld says.

"I couldn't be more excited about seeing everyone there again."
