Meet Kid Zr0, The Band Being Called 'The Next 5SOS'

The up-and-comers are on a swift path to success overseas

Rising Central Coast-bred pop-punk outfit Kid Zr0 have been making all kinds of waves around the world this year and, as they sit on the cusp of their debut Sydney show this weekend, it seems an extraordinarily apt time to get acquainted with the young band previously tipped as being 'the next 5SOS'.

The emergent five-piece are barely old enough to drink — their oldest member is 19 years old, with their singer, Brandon Alexander, the youngest at just 15 — but they've already accrued considerable renown in a relatively short space of time.

Their ascent was greatly aided when, back in May, they caught the attention of international pop superstar Pink after covering her song Just Like Fire and uploading the performance to YouTube. From there, the internet worked its magic until it landed in front of the celebrated songstress herself, who pushed the video out on her own Facebook page and helped drive the little-known outfit to more than 70,000 views.

Also in their corner are career-industry-heavyweights Michael Browning (ex-AC/DC) and Brent Jeffrey (Bright Yellow), with whom the band have signed a management deal. Additionally, they're backed by Loudmouth Music/Phonogenic Records founder Andrew Frampton (The Script, Natasha Bedingfield), who recorded the band's debut single, Rich Guy's Party, trading heavily in fist-pumping, carefree, pubescent pop-punk vibes and unlikely references to '80s glam metal bands. Its video was released today, and you can check it out below.
