Aussie comedian Jim Jefferies has leapt to the defence of Russell Crowe following claims the actor violently evicted Azealia Banks from a private party in LA on Saturday, as the US rapper has shed more details on the alleged attack.

As The Sun reports, Jefferies was one of the few guests present at the intimate function at Crowe's Beverly Hills hotel suite alongside names such as Swedish singer Elliphant and director Ridley Scott.

The Perth-born comic took to Twitter on Tuesday to back up reports that Banks lashed out at guests with a glass.

"This is 100 percent the truth. I was there, she was out of control. Russell did absolutely nothing wrong," he tweeted.

Jefferies posted again soon after, "[Azealia] Banks is a complete liar. I was in the room. Russell Crowe is completely innocent. I would take a lie detector."

However speaking to The Sun, Banks said, "I think [Crowe's] a racist, misogynist pig.

"This is a stain on me. My femininity feels stained. I feel stained as a woman, I feel mishandled, I feel mistreated, I feel dirty. I feel very fucking low."

The 25-year-old hip hop artist alleges that she got on well with Crowe at the party until she mocked another guest, reportedly an aspiring filmmaker.

"Russell just kind of switched. He was like, ‘Well you know what? You’re young and you’ve never done anything in your career so you don’t know what you’re talking about,'" Banks claimed.

"I’m a little offended but I was still keeping it light. I was like, "Your best days are behind you.'"

Banks confirmed reports that a female guest then stepped in to defend Crowe.

"I said, 'Girl, this is not the right time or place for us to be fighting, like what would happen if I got up and I slapped the shit out of you, or I took a glass and fucking threw it at you and you were bleeding all over the place? I would be wrong and we’d all be wrong, and the party would be done.'"

"Then Russell turns to me and he goes, 'Well, you wouldn’t even get close enough to get the chance, n*****,'" Banks continued.

"And he says the word n***** so, like, quietly, under his breath.

"He calls me a n*****, and then grabs me, picks me up, he chokes me by the throat, picks me up, throws me out of the room and then spits on me.

"You don’t just spit on somebody. And in front of everybody."

LA police are reportedly preparing to speak with Crowe who has denied any wrongdoing after Banks filed a battery report against him on Sunday.
