Detectives obtained CCTV footage.

Police have confirmed that a Melbourne nightclub was targeted in a drive-by shooting in the early hours of Thursday morning.

As The Age reports, at least three shots were fired into the Boutique venue in Prahran by a man armed with a shotgun who pulled up in a car outside of the club.

It is reported that detectives obtained CCTV footage of the incident on Monday.

"Police have spoken with the property owner and the investigation into the incident continues," a Victoria police spokeswoman said.

The gun shots resulted in damage to the Greville Street bar's front door, window, first floor window and the first floor window of a cafe next door.

The venue only reopened three weeks ago after owner Darren 'Razzle' Thornburgh shut it down previously after he declared bankruptcy in 2011.

Thornburgh initially denied that the shooting occurred, after police were informed of the incident by media.

"If gunfire went off in Greville Street, someone would've reported it," he said.

Thornburgh has also claimed that no bullets or shells were found inside the venue.
