Sit down, get a glass of water

Following their first speaker announce last month, Melbourne music summit Face The Music have unveiled another 14 speakers for this year, including artists like Briggs, hot from the BIGSOUND 2016 keynote list, execs from the likes of St Jerome's Laneway Festival, Skinnyfish Music and WME Entertainment and many, many more.

Dedicated to furthering the conversation and tackling contentious topics this year — why the co-programmers Zac Abroms and Ash Sambrooks are insisting on calling the event a summit rather than a conference — Face The Music's panels and keynotes will be driven by a number of musicians like Arizonian avant-garde producer Zola Jesus, young rap extraordinaire Tkay Maidza, Zach Braff-endorsed producer Japanese Wallpaper and outspoken Indigenous emcee Briggs, who recently spoke at BIGSOUND of his new act, AB Original.

On the industry bigwig side of things, Face The Music will host the head of Pandora's Next Big Sound team Alex White, who works to analyse data about how people consume music, I OH YOU head honcho Johann Ponniah, Laneway's General Manager Katie Stewart, manager of Troye Sivan, Emma Barnes, of the eponymous Emma Jane Mgmt, Double J sweetheart Myf Warhurst, Native Tongue Music Publishing's GM Jaime Gough, APAC electronic music booker for WME Entertainment Samuel Wald, Penny Drop director Emily York, Skinnyfish Music's co-founder Michael Hohnen and Amber Galloway, a live music sign language interpreter who has worked side-of-stage at Kendrick Lamar and Destiny's Child.

Today's 14 speakers round out already announced speakers Zan Rowe, The Needle Drop, VICE's Ricki Askin and Vivid Sydney's Ben Marshall (among others), though Face The Music are quick to remind that there are more speakers where that came from.

The announce also coincides with the news that Face The Music will be conducting all their events out of the stunning, storied State Library Victoria, newly revealed as the Melbourne Music Week Hub
