Virgin rolls out exciting new baggage rules

In a massive win for touring artists, Virgin Australia has upped their baggage allowance for musicians on domestic flights, allowing 64kg across four pieces of checked luggage.

The exciting news was unveiled at BIGSOUND last night, doubles the previous allowance announced in 2011, and follows a number of overhauls to assist travelling artists over the years.

To be eligible for the airline’s music industry baggage allowance, artists need to be signed up to an approved Australian music body, with ARIA, APRA, Music Council of Australia and more on the list.

The upgrade follows discussions led by The Australian Music Industry Network — members of which can also claim the new allowance.

The new baggage allowance rules comes into effect on Monday, Sept 12. For more info, check out the Virgin Australia website.
