"Suzannah is never average; she is always there, in the moment and true to her craft."

Ahead of Mullum Music Festival's ninth iteration this November, organisers have announced folk/Americana artist Suzannah Espie as this year's official patron.

Joining the ranks of Harry James Angus and Mama Kin before her, Espie has been chosen for her embodiment of the spirit, passion and creativity of Mullum. Festival director Glenn Wright says of her appointment, "Suzannah has played Mullum many times and the audience at her gigs is always filled with other musicians. Suzannah is never average; she is always there, in the moment and true to her craft.

"She was an easy choice for us and we are privileged to have her as part of our festival family."

As part of her role, Espie will lead a local women's choir for a special performance at the four-day festival, as well as take part in the Youth Mentorship Program and performing her own set.

Espie added, "The festival seeps into every corner of the town, and every bartender, shop owner and waiter seems to be totally enthused by what is going on. There are so many local people I now call friends from my time playing at Mullum, I can’t think of another festival where I have felt that connection with the place."

The Music is proud to present Mullum Music Festival from 17-20 November.
