She's heading down under with Nelly, TLC and co. for that huge R&B reunion!
Off the back of yesterday's mammoth RNB Fridays tour announcement, featuring Nelly, Mya, TLC, Fatman Scoop and Blackstreet, Blu Cantrell, also on the line-up, says she's not fond of R&B these days, preferring the "old stuff".
Speaking to The Music, Cantrell (real name: Tiffany Cobb) says she avoids listening to the radio and contemporary R&B these days. "Everything is a little more filtered today," Cobb remarks. "I try to be nice when I say it's more filtered."
With a powerhouse soul vocal reminiscent of greats like Whitney Houston, unsurprising when considering her jazz vocalist mother, Cantrell says R&B in 2016 is riddled with Auto-Tune and is "played out".
"I think it's ridiculous!" Cobb exclaims. "Everyone's lip-syncing and they're using Auto-Tune and it's something that I will never do — it's just not my style. I refuse to do that."
Cantrell has been working on a career comeback of late and will be releasing a Christmas project featuring "R&B greats" such as Angie Stone and Chante Moore, as well as heading to Australia for the highly-anticipated RNB Fridays tour.
