Like it didn't already have our attention

Ahead of this afternoon's full line-up announcement, the organisers of The Falls Music & Arts Festival have let loose with another name to set tongues wagging and wallets preemptively loosening, revealing that London Grammar will be joining Childish Gambino aboard this year's bill.

The British indie-electro-pop trio haven't released a new record since 2013's acclaimed debut full-length If You Wait, though the band have been teasing its follow-up this year, having posted photos of themselves in the studio as far back as February. To be fair, it's not like they've been sitting around twiddling their thumbs in-between; rather, they've spent much of the past three years jet-setting about for international festivals and tours, including a visit to Australia in March last year. Still, with LP #2 an imminent prospect, it's probably fair to expect that, this time around, local audiences will be treated to a hefty selection of new material mixed in among the hits when the band touch down at the end of the year.

Even with only Gambino announced ahead of London Grammar — who, like their predecessor, won't be performing any affiliated sideshows as part of their festival visit — it's safe to say that Falls 2016 already well and truly has our attention ahead of this afternoon's line-up announcement; stay tuned for the full spread later today.

The Falls Music & Arts Festival returns to Lorne (28-31 December), Marion Bay (29-31 December) and Byron Bay (31 December-2 January) — and makes its debut appearance in Fremantle (7-8 January 2017) — in just a few months; general-release tickets will go on sale from 9am local time next Tuesday, 30 August, via the festival's website, while local Tasmanian ticket sales will be held at participating retail outlets from 9am, 30 August.
