For the second time in as many months, British songwriter Ed Sheeran is being sued for allegedly ripping off another artist.

After being accused of plagiarising a track written for The X Factor UK singer Matt Cardle, the 25-year-old is now being sued for allegedly ripping off parts of legendary artist Marvin Gaye's classic Let's Get It On for his own hit, Thinking Out Loud.

According to TMZ, as Gaye and Ed Townsend (the songwriters behind the 1973 song) have both passed away, the lawsuit has been filed by the heirs to both songwriters who allege that Sheeran's 2014 chart-topping track has ripped the melody, harmony, and rhythm compositions from Let's Get It On.

Sheeran is yet to publicly address the lawsuit.

The new case comes a little over a year after the family of Gaye were awarded millions of dollars in damages after a jury found that parts of Pharrell Williams' and Robin Thicke's 2013 track Blurred Lines had been lifted from the Motown pioneer's Got To Give It Up.
